How to nicely tell your friend that your daughter doesn't want to hang out with her anymore?

My daughter is 12 and she grew up with my friend's daughter but they moved away a few years ago and she is a little odd but now that she has moved away the oddity has gotten a lot worse and my daughter had matured in a different way. They come down to visit a few times a year and my daughter is barely tolerating her visits since her Mom is constantly trying to maintain their old friendship by putting them together as much as possible even though my daughter has other friendships she'd rather be with. Please help with helpful advice! We need to figure this out.
