Does saying you miss someone feel different pending the cirstances of that person's absence?

Does it feel different when people say they miss someone because he or she is dead as opposed to saying that because of physical separation: changing schools, moving away, etcetera? I think when someone dies the term "I miss her" or "I miss him" has far deeper emotional meaning because you know you can't just call them up or hop in a car or on a plane and visit them: it's just a body there but like a mannequin the person can't do anything. That's why I think it is effective to have a picture of the person although that is not necessary if the prior contact was frequent and you have a good photgraphic memory. I happen to have a good photographic memory. I can picture lots of things in my head and put them in writing or draw them in detail.
