Why don't TV shows today use interesting camera angles and closeups anymore?

Seems to me you see more broader "big picture" shots...and I would only begin to guess, that is because so much money is being poured into special effects now vs. close ups. A lot of the bankroll is put into scenery now, and that is what the majority of viewers look for, the whole thing, the background, the buildings the skies, oceans, or surrounding cast in the background, not just the main couple actors or actresses. And I'm sure the greed factor plays into it too. Somewhere along the lines, somebody undoubtedly wanted an ungodly amount of money for shots like that, and they (whoever they are) decided no more...one less demand. Other than those few dust bunnies blowing around in my head on this topic, its all I have on it...Take care ; )
