To be carbon neutral, I'm allowed 2000kg of Co2 per year?

I think the whole carbon footprint and carbon offset thing is a big con. I love how mively polluting factories can pay a half ed fee to some third world country and thereby offset its carbon dioxide emissions. Reminds me of the fee people used to pay to the church in the middle ages to be "saved".
