Kung Fu, and Shaolin Kung Fu.?

First of all, the Chinese word "Kung Fu" means a "hard earned skill" or a 'Special Skill" or any physical skill that requires years of specialized training to master. So when someone says he has trained in Shaolin Kung Fu, that just means he has learned the Shaolin Temple monks' special set of skills, which happens to be Wu Shu(martial arts). But the word Kung Fu can also be used to describe Chef Gordon Ramsey's skill in the kitchen or Yoyo Ma's skill with the Cello for example, but since it was most commonly ociated with the Chinese martial arts in the early 60s and 70s in the west due to the popularity of Kung Fu films, most people have mistakenly umed it means martial arts. So when you say Wing Chun Kung Fu or Hung Gar Kung Fu, you are merely referring to the Wing Chun School or the Hung Gar School's special set of skills.
